People think of photography as an art. It is. But few talk about the problem solving challenges it brings. How to manage the physical circumstances, the technical issues that arise, and then the human element; personality, poses, addressing people's concerns about their appearance etc.
For me, I enjoy problem solving. It is a large piece of my artistic fortitude. I think that's how I see myself...as a highly stylized artistic problem solver.
I was a teacher for over 20 years. And I got started in photography by taking images of my students. Kids are a strong suit for me. I believe I get a variety of images that document kids as they are at this time in their life.
My favorite shoots are ones that are planned out well. I like to get to know my clients a bit before the session if possible. I often need to see the site in advance so I can plan what lighting to bring. I encourage clothing changes

Katie is such a professional. Her portraits are really really great. She knows how to light you in the perfect way. I was so pleased with the images I received from the two photoshoots I've done with her. The 2nd shoot was a 4-generation family portrait and she somehow positioned and lit us all perfectly. She is also responsive to ideas and will work with you to get what you want. The quality of the prints she mailed me are the highest quality I've ever had in my home. I love them! This was bucket list for me!!! Kath is super-professional and really worked with me to get the photo I wanted! I drove 4 hours to have the session with her, and I would do it again, absolutely! She has a repertoire of genres, including Old Hollywood, children, and mother/child portraits. I'm picky AF & she was stellar...couldn't recommend her more!!

During the shoot she was super professional and just great with our 2 week old daughter. She really did a great job working with us ( new parents) our daughter and all the while focusing on getting great pictures.

Omg wonderful!
Katie was great at working with my kids. No rush at all, really took her time. Although her aim is not to get tons of pics, she gets really great ones. And really, how many can you hang in the wall anyways ? When she sent me the digital copies I loved them. I thought they were wonderful! But this morning I got the prints and OMG are they amazing! She matted them with the perfect color to make it pop, and the print quality was very high. She is truly an artist, more than a snap and shoot photographer. Her aim is a few, really high quality shots, and boy, did she ever deliver!
